Be a Disciple of Christ and make Disciples for Christ.
CCM’s objective is to reach the unreached masses with the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ to make them Disciples of Christ and thereby form new prayer groups and worshipping congregations.
CCM also attempts to express God’s love holistically through various social upliftment programs.
“Giving no offence in anything, that the ministry be not blamed, but in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God…” (2 Cor 6:3-4)
Rev. Y. Balin Thambi Dhas accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1990 during his school days. Burdened to witness to those who never heard of Christ, he was excited to join the gospel teams that toured the neighboring villages sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
During his seminary days, Rev. Balin was increasingly burdened for the salvation of those who never heard the gospel. He continued to pray for God’s guidance. One night, as he slept, he heard a still small voice that said: “Be my disciple, and make disciples for me.” He woke up and saw all his roommates in sound sleep. After he went back to sleep, he again heard the same voice, and woke up at about 2 am filled with a sense of awe and wonder. Pondering over this, he understood that it was Jesus who called him for a specific mission.
Rev Balin’s one-year ministry among the tribals of Kalvarayan Hills in Tamilnadu sharpened his vision for evangelism, motivated him for greater ministry among many such people groups. Upon receiving further theological education, since 1998 he has been involved in teaching and training young people for God’s ministry – both in seminary and practical ministry settings.
In 1998, Rev. Balin was married to Mrs. Jayamary, who also underwent Seminary training and is committed to ministry. God brought them together and, as they prayed for God’s guidance in serving Him together, He blessed them with oneness of mind and purpose to fulfil His vision for ministry. Thus, they were led to begin Calvary Christian Mission, which formally emerged as a mission organization on August 1, 2000.
CCM began trusting in the care and provision of the Lord, with just two missionaries placed as Evangelists in Perathur village (Tiruvallur district) and Kodamanallur village (Kanchipuram district). CCM had a very small beginning, and faced countless difficulties. Yet, with the enabling grace of God, the Mission grew from strength to strength. “For who hath despised the day of small things?” (Zech. 4:10). Currently, 60 missionaries are serving the Lord in 30 mission fields in 5 different states in India.
Rev. Y. Balin Thambi Dhas is the Founder and Managing Trustee of CCM. He serves as the General Secretary, providing overall leadership to the ministry and serving the servants of God.
Mrs. Jayamary Balin shares with him a great deal of ministerial responsibilities including the administration of the Ministry Office and Horeb Institute of Mission Studies (HIMS), the training wing of CCM.
CCM family is blessed to have the backing of a group of God’s people who are missionary minded and endowed with administrative abilities and gifts. They periodically lend a helping hand through counsel, prayer and practical helps so that CCM’s goals may be reached. Our ministry team, especially our Promotional Coordinators, passionately share the vision of CCM with different churches and believers in Christ, encouraging them to participate in our ministries through their earnest prayer and sacrificial contributions.
The administrative staff members regularly wait on the Lord for God’s guidance in fulfilling the ministry responsibilities. Besides praying for the various ministries and needs of CCM, the team also prays for churches and para-church missions, and for our supporters and well-wishers. They also intercede for special concerns within and outside India emerging from changing social and political scenario.
Our evangelists are working among the various people groups in our mission fields. They constantly reach out to their neighbors with the good news of Jesus Christ. As people respond to the gospel, prayer groups are formed and, as they grow in the Lord, worshipping congregations are formed.
